Own a piece of Tigers’ history
Melton Sports will be hosting a very special event on Friday, December 5 as the town switches on its Christmas lights.
Sports fans are invited to join us between 4pm and 7pm for a book signing to celebrate the recent launch of the Leicester Tigers Official History Book.
And among those due to put in an appearance that evening are Tigers players Jordan Crane and Jamie Gibson, so save the date and pop in for your copy, a chat, autograph and picture.
In addition any customer who buys a Tigers shirt or item from our Canterbury training or leisure range in December will also be entered into a prize draw to win one of three pairs of tickets for the Tigers vs Bath Aviva Premiership game on January 4.
The 528-page Official History, by club historian and statistician Stuart Farmer and renowned rugby journalist David Hands, is the definitive account of Leicester Football Club.
It tells the club’s story from 1880 to the present day in an easy-to-follow style with a special section on all 209 players – Crane included – to have been awarded a club cap by making 100 starts for the first team.
The book is lavishly and superbly illustrated, using previously unpublished material wherever possible, and packed with stunning action photography. A ‘Tigers Encyclopaedia’ section helps to make it a true collector’s item.
Testimonials about the Official History describe it as ‘a magnificent book I shall treasure for the rest of my life’ and ‘the best £45 I’ve spent in ages’. Pop in to the shop to view the book or ring and reserve your copy by calling (01664) 668191.
The book is being published by charity The Rugby Development Foundation – www.rugby-foundation.org.uk – and proceeds will be used to support grassroots rugby including the development of elite young players through the Tigers Academy.
Jordan and Jamie both play in the back row. Jordan has nearly 200 Tigers appearances to his name, has won four league titles and has been capped by England. He captained the Tigers side which took on the Barbarians earlier this month. Jamie, meanwhile, made a big impression in his first season with Tigers in 2013-14 and is one to watch, both for club and country.
Our Tigers event follows on from the recent visit to the store of sports massage therapist Graham Spencer. We hope to arrange more things like this throughout 2015 so watch this space!
