Join us at our Sport Relief fundraiser
Melton Sports will be pulling out all the stops for Sport Relief with a special fundraising event on Saturday, March 17.
Our special guest at the shop in King Street will be sports massage therapist Vicki Stones Hurrell. She will be offering advice, taping and strapping and short treatments between 11am and 2pm in return for a donation to the charity.
There will also be a healthy bake sale, sweepstake and an auction of a Leicester Tigers jersey signed by the first team squad. The sweepstake will see Michael running around Rutland Water while sealed bids are invited for the Tigers shirt (reserve is £45).
Vicki has been working in sports massage therapy for five years after studying sports injury, management and prevention at Loughborough and also has a specific interest in diet and nutrition.
She is also no stranger to sporting success. She spent six years competing in MG car club championships, winning trophies at race circuits across the country and being named Melton Times Sportswoman of the Year in 2010.
Vicki subsequently achieved elite success in obstacle course racing before entering the world of triathlon and this year is taking on four off-road marathon distance races and Equinox 24 at Belvoir Castle.
Vicki said: “As a sports person myself I understand the huge importance of not just the training side of sport but the large part diet, nutrition and injury prevention play in the role of becoming the best you can be in performance and health. This is not just for top athletes, this is important to all abilities and all ages.”
No appointments are necessary, just pop in anytime between 11am and 2pm.
